Course Overview

Delegates This course is designed for all those who may be required to work with or construct mobile aluminium towers.

Certificate Upon completion of a written test, practical training and assessment, successful delegates will receive a certificate and a licence.  Licences are valid for 5 years and will require renewal before expiration.

Overview

  • Introduction – An overview of the course and discussion of attendees’ current level of knowledge.
  • Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) – An overview of the key Health and Safety Regulations to which companies in the UK need to comply, conformance to product standards together with the employer’s and employee’s legal responsibilities.
  • Components – The components which go together in the construction of towers.
  • Pre-use Inspection – The importance of carrying out pre-use checks and how to set up equipment safely, taking into account ground/site conditions and the general surroundings.
  • Methods – Safe methods of how to erect and dismantle towers including best practices and the importance of maintaining tower inspection records.
  • Variances – The differences in construction between various manufacturers.
  • Hazards – Carrying out Risk Assessments in order to recognise and mitigate hazards.  Consider best practices for fall protection and identify suitable Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Questions and Answers – Time for attendees to clarify and query any of the points raised in the course plus course questionnaire to test attendees’ knowledge.

Course Overview

Delegates This course is designed for anyone with the responsibility of overseeing work where operatives work at height using mobile access towers.

Certificate Upon completion of a written test, successful delegates will receive a certificate and a licence.  Licences are valid for 5 years and will require renewal before expiration.

  • Introduction – An overview of the course and discussion of attendees’ current level of knowledge.
  • Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) – An overview of the key Health and Safety Regulations to which companies in the UK need to comply in particular those governing working at height with mobile towers, conformance to product standards together with the employer’s and employee’s legal responsibilities.
  • Code of Practice – A guide to the Code of Practice which serves as a stand-alone reference document for supervisors and managers.  The Code of Practice contains a wealth material on all aspects of erection and dismantling of towers, with information on best practices.
  • Inspection – The importance of carrying out pre-use checks with instruction on how to formulate and maintain tower inspection records.
  • Variances – The differences in construction between various manufacturers.
  • Hazards – Carrying out Risk Assessments in order to recognise and mitigate hazards.  Consider best practices for fall protection and identify suitable Personal Protective Equipment.
