Course Overview

Delegates
This course is designed for candidates who wish to gain a Forklift Truck qualification.

Certificate
Delegates will receive a certificate of completion.  Regulation 9 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1998 (PUWER) requires employers to provide refresher training as and when necessary.

The course instructor is RTITB qualified.

Course duration
20 hours

Overview

  • Introduction – An overview of the course and discussion of attendees’ current level of knowledge.
  • Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) – An overview of the key Health and Safety Regulations to which companies in the UK need to comply, including Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).  An outline of employer and employees’ duties and responsibilities.
  • Theory and Practical – You will be given both theoretical and practical skills in the correct use and operation of conventional lift trucks.
  • Operators Safety Code – Information on how to prevent accident to yourself or others by following the Operators Safety Code.
  • Principles – nformation on engineering principles and safe working loads.  Different types of instability, their causes and how to compensate for them.
  • Daily/Pre-Shift Inspection and Maintenance – The relevant daily/pre-shift checks, both visual and operational, required to ensure components of the vehicle are not damaged and that all mechanical, hydraulic and electrical parts are working correctly.  Maintenance of and information on battery care and how to change LPG cylinders.
  • Stacking/Racking Procedures – Covers lift truck stability together with rated capacity plates and safe working loads.  Also covered are the three different stacking levels; low lever, eye level and high level and the different requirements for each.
  • Questions and Answers – Time for attendees to clarify and query any of the points raised in the course plus course questionnaire to test attendees’ knowledge.

This course is designed for candidates who have previously gained a relevant Forklift Truck certification and will enable individuals to upgrade their skills, eliminate bad practices, renew their safety awareness and gain a current certificate.

Certificate
Delegates will receive a certificate of requalification.  Regulation 9 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1998 (PUWER) requires employers to provide refresher training as and when necessary. The course instructor is RTITB qualified.

7.5 hours
