At MBO Safety Services, we recognise that the Construction Design and Management Regulations play a vital role in shaping safer, more efficient construction projects. Whether a client is embarking on a small refurbishment or a large-scale development, the regulations place clear duties on everyone involved. Our mission is to make compliance straightforward, practical and fully integrated into the way our clients work.
Why CDM Compliance Matters
The CDM Regulations are designed to reduce risks during both the design and construction phases. They ensure that health and safety considerations are not an afterthought but a core part of the project from day one. For clients, this means having the right people, processes and documentation in place to manage risks effectively.
However, understanding these duties and implementing them correctly can be challenging. That is where we come in.
Our Role as Principal Designer
One of the key services we provide is undertaking Principal Designer duties on behalf of our clients. This role is central to ensuring that risks are identified, communicated and controlled throughout the pre‑construction phase.
Our Principal Designer support includes:
- Coordinating design work to ensure health and safety risks are managed at the earliest stage
- Reviewing and advising on design changes that may introduce new hazards
- Ensuring designers understand and fulfil their responsibilities under the regulations
- Preparing and maintaining essential documentation, including the pre‑construction information
- Facilitating communication between all parties to keep the project aligned with CDM requirements
We take a proactive, collaborative approach, working closely with clients, designers and contractors to ensure that safety is embedded into the project from the outset.
Recent Support in Northern Ireland
We are proud to support clients across the UK, and recently we had the opportunity to assist one of our customers in Northern Ireland on a significant project.
Throughout the project, we worked alongside the client to:
- Identify potential design risks
- Coordinate with multiple design disciplines
- Ensure all pre‑construction information was complete and accurate
- Support the client in meeting their legal duties under the CDM Regulations
This collaboration not only strengthened the project’s safety foundations but also helped streamline communication and decision‑making across the wider team. It was a pleasure to contribute to a project that demonstrated such a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Our Commitment to Every Client
At MBO Safety Services, we believe that effective CDM support should be clear, practical and tailored to the needs of each project. We take pride in offering guidance that is easy to understand and implement, without unnecessary complexity.
