This course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce. This course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all managers working on Build UK sites.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Certificate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance. We recommend that this course is renewed every five years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course duration<\/strong><br \/>\n5 days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0Introduction \u2013 Introduction to GE 700 Construction Site Safety and XA6 SMSTS delegate workbook.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Aims and Objectives \u2013 To:<br \/>\n\u2212 Manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions, and within the context of their management or supervisory role.<br \/>\n\u2212 Develop an understanding of responsibility and accountability for site health, safety and welfare.<br \/>\n\u2212 Recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical and productive.<br \/>\n\u2212 Implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them during their daily work.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Health and Safety Law \u2013 Covering acts, regulations, approved codes of practices, guidance (HSE\/industry), criminal law, powers of inspectors and improvement and prohibition notices.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Management of Contractors and the Working Environment-Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Working at Height<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Management of Plant, Equipment and Systems of Work\u00a0\u2013 lifting appliances, lifting gear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Construction Health Risks\u00a0\u2013 Welfare, hazardous substances, asbestos, vibration, noise, electricity at work, fire prevention, confined spaces etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Monitoring \u2013 inspections, surveys, tours, auditing, accident reporting and investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Communication and Co-operation \u2013 duties to provide information, instruction and training, engaging with contractors and workers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Entry requirements<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThere are no formal entry requirements: however, delegates should hold or be about to hold the role of a construction manager.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assessment<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nAssessment will be by multiple choice questions at the end of the course and completion of core exercises and a case study.
