We recommend that this course is renewed every 3 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course duration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>6 hours<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Introduction \u2013 An overview of the course and discussion of attendees\u2019 current level of knowledge.<br \/>\n\u2022 Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) \u2013 An overview of the key Health and Safety regulations to which companies in the UK and the legal requirements for reporting and recording such incidents.<br \/>\n\u2022 Hazard Spotting \u2013 An exercise on understanding the hazards within a working environment, followed by a definition and explanation on \u2018what is an accident\u2019.<br \/>\n\u2022 Accident Prevention Methods \u2013 The difference between reactive and pro-active prevention methods, the importance of Safe Systems of Work and the hierarchy of control methods. An explanation of why Accident Investigations are completed.<br \/>\n\u2022 Accident Investigation Techniques \u2013 Steps to carry out while undertaking accident investigation eg taking pictures, taking measurements. Using the 5 \u2018Whys\u2019 technique to determine the root cause followed by a practical exercise.<br \/>\n\u2022 Accident Reporting \u2013 How to gather evidence and information such as victim, eyewitness and bystander reports.
