It\u2019s designed to get managers up to speed on the practical actions they need to take to handle safety and health in their teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Certificate <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The course includes written and practical assessments with the successful delegate receiving a certificate from IOSH.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course duration <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3 days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Introducing IOSH Managing Safely \u00ae \u2013 Some managers may see health and safety as an add on to their role \u2013 even an intrusion. The first module makes it clear that managers are accountable for their teams, and makes a persuasive case for managing safely.<br \/>\n\u2022 Assessing Risks \u2013 This module defines and demystifies \u2018risk\u2019 and \u2018risk assessment\u2019. Risk assessments and a simple scoring system are introduced, and delegates carry out a series of assessments.<br \/>\n\u2022 Controlling Risks \u2013 Here the session tackles cutting risks down, concentrating on the best techniques to control key risks, and how to choose the right method.<br \/>\n\u2022 Understanding your Responsibilities \u2013 This module looks at the demands of the law and how the legal system works, and for those who do not have strict guidelines or laws, there is guidance and placeholders to fill with relevant information and introduces a health and safety management system.<br \/>\n\u2022 Identifying Hazards \u2013 All the main issues any operation has to deal with are covered in this module \u2013 aggression and violence, asbestos, bullying, chemicals, computer workstations, confined spaces, drugs and alcohol, electricity, fire, getting in and out, heights, housekeeping, lighting, manual handling, noise, plant and machinery, radiation, slips and trips, stress, temperature, vehicles and transport, and vibration.<br \/>\n\u2022 Investigating Accidents and Incidents \u2013 The session starts with why incidents should be investigated, and goes on to cover why things go wrong, and how to carry out an investigation when they do.<br \/>\n\u2022 Measuring Performance \u2013 This module explains how checking performance can help to improve health and safety.
