{"id":9316,"date":"2019-10-02T10:04:25","date_gmt":"2019-10-02T10:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mbosafetyservices.co.uk\/staging\/?p=9316"},"modified":"2019-10-02T10:04:25","modified_gmt":"2019-10-02T10:04:25","slug":"chemical-company-fined-after-employee-suffered-a-serious-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbosafetyservices.co.uk\/staging\/chemical-company-fined-after-employee-suffered-a-serious-injury\/","title":{"rendered":"Chemical company fined after employee suffered a serious injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style><p>A company has been fined after an employee fell two metres from a ladder and suffered a serious elbow injury.<\/p>\n<p>The Magistrates Court heard that on 6 June 2018, at the company\u2019s site, an employee was using a ladder to inspect a steam leak at height when the ladder failed and the employee fell to the ground.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found the company had failed to ensure that work at height was properly planned and managed. The company also failed to ensure that equipment provided for use at height was inspected at regular intervals and was fit for use.<\/p>\n<p>The company pleaded guilty to breaching Section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. The company was fined \u00a3120,000 with \u00a35155.80 in costs.<\/p>\n<p>After the hearing, the HSE inspector said: \u201cWork at height accidents are one of the main causes of occupational injury and death.
