Permit to Work

Delegates

Minimum of 6 delegates, maximum of 12.

This course is designed for those who have Health and Safety responsibilities in a maintenance/engineering role within an organisation, such as managers, supervisors, engineers and contractors.

Certificate

Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance. We recommend that this course is renewed every 3 years.

1 - 2 days (depending on size of groups).

Overview

• Introduction – An overview of the course and discussion of attendees' current level of knowledge.
• UK Health and Safety Legislation – An overview of the key Health and Safety Regulations that companies in the UK need to comply with, highlighting Permit to Work.
• Roles and Responsibilities – An overview of roles and responsibilities for persons using a Permit to Work system.
• Contractor Management – An overview of roles and responsibilities for persons using a Permit to Work system.
• Risk Assessments and Method Statements – An overview of how Risk Assessments and Method Statements play an important role in the Permit to Work system.
• Lock-Out Procedure – An overview of what is a Lock-Out procedure and when to use it.
• 5 minute DVD – Explaining Permit to Work, its requirements and how it is used to control hazardous projects.
• Questionnaire – Attendees to clarify and query any of the points in the course, plus the course quiz to test attendees' knowledge.
• Practical Session – An overview using scenarios on how to plan, using documentation required during Permit to Work activities.
• Practical Session using Company's documentation – Scenarios given for group role-play for Facility Managers and Contractors.
