• Introduction – An overview of the course and a short discussion of attendees’ current level of knowledge and experience.
• Manual Handling Regulations – An introduction to the Manual Handling regulations and an overview of the responsibilities of employers and employees.
• Accidents and Injuries – An informative session on the main causes of accidents and injury from Manual Handling and how to avoid them. Short discussion of attendees’ experience of workplace accidents.
• Risk Assessment – An overview of the Risk Assessment process including definitions of key terms used plus a practical exercise so attendees can gain valuable experience in this important area.
• Video ‘Watch Your Back’ – An introduction to safe manual handling in the workplace.
• Manual Handling Techniques – An explanation of the techniques that can be used to avoid injury from Manual Handling tasks. Also includes a practical demonstration so attendees can see for themselves how the techniques can be applied in their workplace.
• Questions and Answers – Time for attendees to clarify and query any of the points raised in the course plus the course quiz to test attendees’ knowledge.
