Delegates
Minimum of 6 delegates maximum of 12 delegates.
This course is predominantly intended for practical users who have need to enter spaces which are substantially enclosed and where there is a potentially hazardous working environment. It would also benefit Managers, Supervisors and Engineers etc. (who may have a requirement to control work in these locations). All delegates should be physically fit as an entry exercise will be carried out.
Certificate
Delegates will receive a certificate of attendance. We recommend that this course is renewed every 3 years.

Overview
• Introduction – An overview of the course and discussion of attendees’ current level of knowledge.
• UK Health and Safety Legislation – An outline of the key Health and Safety Regulations in particular those contained within the Confined Spaces Regulations that companies in the UK need to comply with.
• Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work – An awareness of Confined Space Risk Assessments and the principles of Safe Systems of Work for Confined Space Operations.
• Equipment –
- Equipment required to enter a Confined Space.
- The purpose and use of gas detection equipment.
- The purpose and use of escape breathing apparatus.
- The use of ropes and safety harnesses.
- The purpose and use of tripods and man riding winches.
- The use of suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Examination, testing and maintenance of equipment.
- Ventilation and the avoidance of unsafe atmospheres.
- Manpower including training requirements.
- Communication and entry procedures.
- Practical exercise.
• Questions and Answers –Time for attendees to clarify and query any of the points raised in the course plus course questionnaire to test attendees’ knowledge.
